My Poor Butt

Marlin and I hit the highway today on our bikes.  We went to Park Lake Provincial Park.  It is only 15 km away from our home so it was a pretty decent landmark to head to.

The weather couldn't have been better. It was gorgeous.  Blue skies, barely any wind (at least on the way out) and quite warm. I was actually wearing capris!

The route out to the park is on highways that are pretty quiet. We went long stretches without seeing any vehicles.

I got a gorilla tripod for Christmas just so I could strap it on my bike.  All these pictures were taken from the handlebars of my bike and often while moving!  I was too nervous to use it on the way out (I was a little afraid I would crash and burn) but I plucked up the courage on the way home.  I'm planning on doing the Ride to Conquer Cancer with my camera strapped to the front of my bike.

We had a brief snack at Park Lake.  We also looked for the owls that used to nest there but it looks like they have moved elsewhere.  :(  There was quite a lot of damage to the trees in the area.  I'm not sure when that happened but the nest was probably destroyed at the same time as there was no evidence of it left.

I was surprised by how much snow was out there!

My legs did great, my lungs did great but my butt needs work!  After about 12 km I started to feel every bump in the road.  We actually had to take "Bum Breaks" on the way home.

And the best part about the ride was spending time with Marlin.  Not that we could talk much while riding.  Maybe that is what made it so great!  ;)  (Just joking!)

Stalking

Jetta has been with us for almost 2 weeks now.  I thought she had Coulee pretty much figured out.  Apparently not. Today on our walk she decided to play stalk Coulee. This is how it went...

The stalk...

The attack...

And the result...

Sorry the pictures aren't the best. It was too funny not to share!

I Heart Faces - Hands On Fun

I'm still enjoying the I Heart Faces blog.  I had been planning on participating on more of their challenges but as of yet, haven't seemed to find the time!  But this week is about hands and I have a favourite photo in the archives.

I've always loved this photo.  To me the cards and weathered hands, made it instantly recognizable as Marlin's grandpa.  His grandparents only play card games with Rook cards.

When grandpa saw this picture of himself his only comment was "Why is my head cut off?"  I could have predicted that would be his reaction!

Strutting

So Coulee was feeling a little neglected on the blog.  So she decided to strut her stuff in order to get my attention away from the "new girl".

Don't worry Coulee, you will never be ignored.

Snow Day

Just some more random pictures from yesterday.  I barely took any of Coulee (hence her lack of photos on the blog these last two days), she was too busy sniffing the ground neurotically.

What Big Teeth You Have

Lacey and Jetta are pretty much joined at the hip during our walks.  Lacey is going to be very sad when Jetta goes home again.  They really do like each other - despite what the pictures look like.

Jetta

We are looking after Jetta for a few weeks while her mom and dad enjoy the Olympics in Vancouver.

So far she has been pretty perfect.  She has been great on our off leash walks, has settled nicely at home and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. She even helped me deliver papers yesterday and was perfect on the leash.

Her and Lacey have hit it off famously.  Jetta is constantly whining at the back door asking if her and Lacey can go out and play.  Lacey is always happy to oblige.

I'm having fun with a new dog to photograph.  :)

Coulee could care less either way as long as Jetta stays out of her way during a game of fetch.

I think the only one not having fun is Vito. We also have Vito for the weekend and he is feeling a little bit like a third wheel with Jetta as the new BFF.  Poor guy!

What Grace

When I stop and think about it, I'm always amazed at how often Coulee manages to catch a toy. They don't always have predictable bounces or flights, but more often than not, she catches them.

She isn't always graceful though.

Clear Message

These two pictures were taken just moments apart.  The second one just cracked me up as you can just see what she is thinking...  "What?!  She isn't backing down?  OMG!  What happens if I'm not the one to catch it?!"

I'm Trying!

Lacey was putting a little more effort into ball catching yesterday....

Coulee on the other hand decided that every time she let go, Lacey stole it, so maybe she wasn't going to let go anymore....

The Girls

Here are some more of my favourites that Kristy took.  I love the way she captured both their serious sides and more playful sides.  Enjoy!
