Better with Friends

Yesterday me and the girls met up with Deirdre, Cricket and Jetta for a walk.

We went to Peenaquim on the northside. I hadn't been there for months and months.  Wow.  Was it busy.  The parking area was full and there were dogs everywhere.  We snuck off to the side and managed to only run into a few groups of dogs. I think Coulee and Lacey would have been in culture shock if we had wandered into the fray.

The girls all had lots of fun. Cricket spent most of her time exploring the brush.  Coulee played fetch.  Lacey wandered near our feet and would check out the good finds that Cricket discovered and Jetta laid in wait for Cricket to emerge and play.

Most importantly Deirdre and I got a chance to chat.  Something we haven't done for a while!

We really need to do that more often.

Vet Visit

Lacey went into the vet for her annual check-up this morning.  It was the least stressful visit ever.

We went into an exam room and had about 5 minutes to ourselves.  I plunked down on the floor and Lacey promptly went and sat in a corner.  So I threw cookies throughout the room.  She eventually wandered out, ate the cookies, gave things a cursory sniff and then went back to her corner.  So I did it again.  And again.

She eventually settled in next to me so I just sat and massaged her neck and back.  She started to relax.  Then the vet peeked in.  She brought more cookies.  Lacey took them from her hand and then settled back in the corner.  So I threw more cookies on the floor between me and the vet while we chatted.  Lacey came out once for the cookies and then laid down at my feet.

The vet and I talked.  Lacey just laid there.  We discovered that the vaccine combination that she needed wasn't at the clinic and that the combination they usually used would be giving Lacey a vaccine that she had just had last year (we went to a different, yet "related" clinic this time).  So we opted to wait until they got the vaccine Lacey needed.

Lacey got one last cookie from the vet, one last cookie from me and bolted out of there.  Phew.  But we are going to do it all over again on Friday.  And this time, someone other than me is going to have to touch her.  Oh the horrors!!!

Oh and just for the record - she is 15 kg.  Quite the little tank!

You Scratch My Back...

...I'll scratch yours!

This was taken through the window - sorry for the haze.  They aren't very clean!

Intimidation Works

Seriously....

How can she miss?

I guess if the frisbee won't go nicely into your mouth, you need to intimidate it into behaving!

Looking Up

I turned my camera skyward the other day....

Savage

Definitely an attack dog in the making.

I'm not sure who taught her such naughty habits. I'm lucky to still have all my fingers.

The Stick

It always amazes me what you can find at the bottom of the toy box, and how exciting it becomes.

They could have played with it at any time, but it was rejected over and over again for months.

Now that I've hauled it out though, it is the best thing ever.

Nightmares

Yesterday I saw a very cool portrait of someone reflected in a drinking glass.  So today I set out to try it...

But I couldn't seem to get it. The focus isn't what I wanted (I want the reflection to be in focus, not the glass) and I couldn't figure out how to fix it.  So I went back to see if I could find the photo again to see if they explained how they did it. I had no luck finding it, but I stumbled across this fun one!  So I thought I'd give it a try.

Mine is just a little freaky!  I think it is going to give me nightmares!

Fuzzy Blobs

I quite like the fuzzy blobs in the background...  Lacey's brown eyebrows look like her eyes, and Marlin has no head which makes me chuckle every time I look at it.

Blazingstar Morning

The girls and I headed out to Blazingstar this morning for a walk.  We were looking for a change of scenery and as an added bonus, we got company as well!

Coulee was her usual anti-social self.  We didn't throw any toys so she resorted to searching for sticks and by the end was actually just sniffing and enjoying herself... in between sessions of beating up Lacey.

Liz and Andy's flatcoats are not only gorgeous but incredibly well behaved.  Cava is just a young girl, but she is amazingly mature.

Tinbie is a bit of a wild man (with a bit of a thing for Lacey) but he is wild in a fun way, not an obnoxious way.  :)

I didn't get any decent pictures of sweet Lupine.  I had a tonne of out of focus pictures this morning (Do you think the cold could affect the focusing?  Either that, or my lens or camera might need a tune up! I hope it is just the cold.)

Thanks Liz and gang for a fun walk!

Daily Routine

She's on my ass again???

Gotta ditch the little sister

Turning on the burners.

This last one really made me laugh.  Coulee looks so relaxed now that Lacey isn't hot on her heels and Lacey looks oblivious to the annoyance she caused and is still trying to catch up and continue the game.

All About Coulee

Apparently today Coulee was a camera hog.

I thought maybe I should show her looking a little more graceful than last time.

I'd like to say this is her zooming at full speed, but it was near the end of our hour walk where she ran up and down the coulee's so, she actually isn't travelling that fast anymore.

But look - you can actually see her collar!  It is one of the ones I have from Nearly Naked Neckwear. It is actually one I bought for Lacey, but it looks pretty nice on Coulee too.  I love the way they have almost the same neck size (scary eh?  They are only 1/2" different!)

The road to the dog park is still closed.  The flat land at the bottom next to the river is where we usually walk, but with the road closed, we've been hanging out at the top of the coulees instead.  I can throw the frisbee for miles off the top of the coulees or let Coulee really stretch her legs in the neighbouring farmer's field.  It has been nice to have a bit of a change, but after a few weeks, I'm really, really tired of the same old, same old.  I think I'm going to go somewhere different tomorrow.

Slipping and Sliding

Coulee did some tobogganing yesterday.  She had quite a lot of fun sliding down the hill and I had a lot of fun watching!

Timing

Coulee usually impresses me with her sense of timing and amazing ability to time her mid air catches perfectly.  Today... not so much.

I love the way she looks shocked at her own misses. :)

Weekend in Pictures.

The boys stayed with us this weekend.  They were good as usual.  Vito kept Lacey entertained and well Boone, he always keeps us entertained.  He is such a quirky guy.  We went on lots of walks and hunkered down the best we could out of the wind.

Vito

Boone in a snow drift. LOL

The frisbee stayed like this all the way back, I'm not sure how Coulee saw where she was going!

Boone being feisty and cute!

It was so windy Vito's tail and ears are going in the wrong direction.

Don't you just love his pointy nose?

Sporting the Trump comb over.

Even Coulee was getting goofy in the wind.

Can you see how Marlin is angling into the wind?  And yes those are paw prints on his chest.  We were crouched down for most of the walk and a certain grey dog likes to take advantage of this.
Vito is just so cute!

Smiley!
Um.... Amanda.... I think they are going to need a bath.  :)
