Lunch Time Fun

Jack and I had a little impromptu photo session at lunch today.

Jack

Ever since our company left, Jack has decided a chair in the kitchen is his new favourite place.  It's been weird... he hasn't once set foot upstairs since everyone left.  He is preferring to hangout in the kitchen or basement now.  Before, his favourite places were upstairs and then the living room/kitchen area.

I've been taking advantage of the window light when he sits in his new favourite chair.  Every time I walk by he is in a slightly different "pose".

All the photos are better in black and white because the wall behind him is red and the towel thing he is sitting on is blue and green.  :)

I'm happy he is hanging out with us again.  It was a pretty long month of self induced isolation for him.  Silly boy.

Woolford Provincial Rec Area

There is a park about an hour from here that used to be a campground, that is now day use only.  I remember driving through it years ago and wondering what the heck you would do there if you camped there.  It's by a river, but not much else.  We were looking for a quiet place to go yesterday so we decided to see what it was like.

The good news is, that it was totally deserted.  Except for the ton of wildlife.  You can tell nobody comes down there based on the number of deer we saw. They were everywhere!

The bad news is, there is still nothing to do.  We walked down the old campground road that's been blocked off and ambled our way to the river.  There was really only one good entry point for the dogs and you couldn't walk along the shore due to high banks everywhere.

So we ambled along through the woods while the dogs explored and we managed to redirect them whenever we spotted a deer.  We saw a nighthawk do a broken wing display and I was pretty worried he wasn't going to be faking for long as the dog's took off in pursuit.  Thankfully Coulee is too slow and Lacey was a few steps behind at the start.  :)

We took a long rambling way home along back roads and had a pretty fun morning over all.

Retreiver Training

I've been curious about hunt tests for retrievers for a while. I've never actually seen one, yet know some people who do them.  Liz and Andy put together a training day today and invited me along.  I brought Coulee (and Lacey too so I wouldn't need to make two trips) and we went for a short walk before everyone else got there.  Then we got down to work.

We did two retrieves on land and two in water.  Coulee rocked all of them. That's my girl!  Once I knew what it entailed, I wasn't too surprised she did well - she's basically be training for it her whole life.  :)

All the other dogs did great too.  There were a tonne of flatcoats, a lab and Coulee.  These are a few of my favourite pictures from the day.

Random Photos

A random and brief summary from the past month. Life's been busy. "Just for fun" photos have been few and far between.

Life's a Beach

Just some randomness from an early morning beach walk this morning.

Lacey is happy - even with a nose full of sand.

I keep forgetting to bring a toy!  I'm trying not to play fetch so I leave the toys in the car.  Then Lacey gets the snot beat out of her.  So then I have to find something to keep Coulee occupied. Thankfully sticks are numerous at the beach.

Contemplating a swim.

She's always so sweet with the gifts.

Just happy to be out and about.

A wet, dirty dog is a happy dog.

Getting Greener

Compared to 2 weeks ago anyway.  The trees could still use some leaves.  But we are getting there!

Spring Like

Yesterday felt almost Spring like. So does today.  Let's hope it lasts this time. I had a pretty good day. I spent the morning doing some work, some housework and a little bit of relaxing and then headed out around noon for a walk with the pups.

When swamp water makes your dog this happy, how can you refuse?

And once she's wet and dirty, you just gotta go with the flow.

I tried to get them to pose together but there was something interesting on the other side of the fence, so I cut my losses and moved them along before they went off in search of it.

It might have felt like Spring, but there sure wasn't much evidence of it yet! I think the only green things in the photo below are the fence posts!

Then we stopped to visit with puppies on the way home!!!  It was mid day, bright sun with black pups who liked to cuddle so not many photos were taken but I couldn't not take ANY...  They are 4.5 weeks old right now.
